An armed attack inside the Preparatoria Anton Makárenko, in Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán, left, as a preliminary result, two teachers dead and a student detained, according to reports and video footage released after the aggression. The incident occurred on the morning of March 24, 2026, within the school located on Francisco Villa Street, in the downtown area of the municipality. According to initial information, a student allegedly tried to enter the school with a firearm and shot two teachers at different times after being denied access. Both died at the scene, and it is unknown if there were more victims or other possible damages. A security operation was deployed at the scene to assist the victims and to arrest the presumed perpetrator. According to what can be seen in videos shared on social networks, elements of the Lázaro Cárdenas Municipal Police entered the school and located the alleged attacker, a thin young man with curly hair, completely dressed in black and wearing a sweatshirt with a visible white print. In these images, it can be seen that the student remains calm at first, without showing visible resistance, and is later subdued and handcuffed by police officers, who remove him from the school under custody. So far, his identity, exact age, or the legal situation under his protection has not been officially reported. The attack caused panic among students and teaching staff, who took refuge in classrooms while the security operation developed inside and outside the institution. The area was cordoned off and remains under guard, while the Michoacán State Attorney General's Office carries out the corresponding procedures for evidence collection and the integration of the investigation file. To date, the authorities have not officially confirmed the identities of the two teachers nor have they detailed the possible motive for the attack.
